I remember a French language conversation (none of us were native speakers of French) in which someone (male) said something good or neutral about another author on your list, Montherlant. Someone else (female) said, "Jʻai lu Montherlant, et il est tres, tres MAL!" I donʻt know if you are Flamand, Wallon, or other. And Whether that is good criticism , or even good French, I have no idea.
