Having seen Abelard as the first name on your list of favorite authors, I wondered if you have ever seen the long ooem about him (fiction in verse): [Abelard] by [Cedric Whitman]. It was in the main stream of publishing, and by a publisher that rarely publishes poetry: (Harvard University Press, 1965) I suppose it didnʻt hurt him to be on the Harvard faculty (Classics) at the time, although, in academic publishing, there wasnʻt much correlation, at the time, between a writerʻs academic affiliation and the university that published him. IWhitmanʻs [Abelard] couldnʻt be said to be a household word among "modern" poetry devotees of the time.

I remember a French language conversation (none of us were native speakers of French) in which someone (male) said something good or neutral about another author on your list, Montherlant. Someone else (female) said, "Jʻai lu Montherlant, et il est tres, tres MAL!" I donʻt know if you are Flamand, Wallon, or other. And Whether that is good criticism , or even good French, I have no idea.
