About meChristian Homeschooling mother of 9. I have been homeschooling since the birth of my first son 22 years ago. 4 of my sons have graduated but I still have 4 more to go and 1 daughter.

About my libraryI began collecting books in highschool. My biography is really a bibliography.
My personal interests are education, theology, mysteries, English Lit, children's books. I am not sure how many books we own possibly more than 5,000. I hope Library Thing will help me find that out.

I sent you a friend invite. I'm Daisy from Laurel Wreath, but on here I'm just Shimeall. :-)
Hello,
I've been working on the Childhood of Famous American Series page (which lists the books in the series)http://www.librarything.com/series/Child..., and I'd like to pick your brain about two books which I'm pretty sure are the same work:
[Abe Lincoln, Frontier Boy] and [Abraham Lincoln, Great Emancipator]. The first title is, I believe, the older original title. The titles ought to be combined if they're the same work; since you have so many of the CoFA's I thought you might know!
Amy
Cindy,

Carmon bought that same cute 'Sunflower Houses' book you added recently while we were on a book-hunting expedition here in Redding. Very cute! I also like the updated picture.

Blessings,

Lisa
My grandson will be 2 in another month and I still have to remind my daughter that her carrying him for 9 months and giving birth does not make that little boy any less MINE. They live here in town so we normally get together a couple of times a week. I tell you, if I go 4 days without seeing that little angel, I get twitchy.
Is that grandbaby safely here? Or should I ask - have you put the baby down yet? :-)

I'm adding covers for my Mary Daly books, like Elementary Diagramming Work Text.
You've homeschooled 9 children? That makes you a hero in my book!

We share Elizabeth Enright's books. I run into so few people who have read them, and it's a shame because these are simply marvelous books.

I hope we can be friends, and I'm sure to pick your brain as my 21-month-old grandson gets older, to find out the best ways to reinforce his school lessons and spark an interest in him to want to learn more.

Hi from Sugar Grove, Illinois. I see that besides having many books in common, we are both homeschooling families, and Reformed Christians. My husband is the JD in JDHofmeyer. He started the LibraryThing as a record for insurance purposes, and had our oldest daughter enter the books. I've only recently been exploring the site and hope to add some book reviews soon. What fun!
Hello from another cover adder. I noticed you commenting on Amy's (SaintSunniva's) profile about cover images. You and I have well over 200 books in common (a decade or two of homeschooling will do that I guess) and I have images for most, possibly all of them (some may not be your edition of course; but I have over 4000 books on LT so far and all but a very few have covers -- most of my imageless books are black or brown, plain, and basically look like LT's default). Also, a kind helpful LT-er gave me the URL to search out books in your own library with no covers. I posted that in a message on Amy's profile where it will be convenient.
Ah yes, 1001 Riddles. Surely riddles can be one way to learn American culture of 75 years ago...there are many things mentioned or alluded to in that book, that simply don't exist anymore, but my kids still like the riddles.

I really really like adding pictures of my books. If a cover is completely plain, like many of my rebound old library books are, I snap a pic of the cover page or a good illustration. (I wish all my books had dust jackets, but feel dishonest using someone else's picture, if my book doesn't have the jacket.)
If you like to add covers for your books, you may care to add 1001 Riddles for Children, which we share. I also added quite a few covers for books in the Childhood of Famous Americans series, and some time back I loaded all my titles by Maud and Miska Petersham -- I think we share a title or two of theirs, as well.

It's kind of impressive that we share 337 books, isn't it!
Anyone who collects and reads Elisabeth Kyle books must also be a fond of 20th century children's literature and would be a friend of mine.

Hey Cindy,
Do you know how to exclude a single category from your blog's random book widget? I'd like to exclude Christmas books now that the season is at an end. Thanks! Lisa Winton
Hello, I am also a Christian homeschool mom - but only of 2. We seem to have many books in common - over a hundred so far and I still have 7 or 8 large bookshelves to go - I only recently joined librarything.
Dear Cindy,
THANK you. When I discovered Library Thing a few days ago, logging our books was one of my goals, but most especially in the back of my mind was the hope that I would find someone with knowledge of these books we inherited. I will value and use them.
Julie
I am curious about a book we share. Do you know any background on John Lord's Beacon Lights of History? I inherited the first four of them in an antique binding and they look like gems to me.
Hey! You edged ahead of BookLady!
At the end of each day of adding books to my library, I always find that I share more books with you. We have similar tastes in several areas, and our homeschooling paths must have been parallel, if not the same.
A book we have in common is, I believe, listed incorrectly in your catalogue: Freedom by Hays comes up under Clark Hays, when it should be Wilma Pitchford Hays.
My dear dominionfamily friend, I audibly gasped when I saw how many books you catalogued so far. I am behind you, as usual. I will have to work hard to catch up!
By the way, never try to read with a cat on your lap if you want to stay awake. I think they use up all the oxygen or something, because it's almost like sleep medicine.
Funny, I looked at the books we had in common and your random book list and thought, sounds like a homeschooler. Then I read your profile. Me too. Homeschooling I mean. I'm not listing all my books on this site, only the ones I've read in the last two years.
Glad I asked! I will still get it, even if I have read a bunch of them. I will make my husband read it.
Sounds great! I read Mark Steyn's columns, but didn't know he has a new book. Oh, that makes me think to ask -- is it a book book, or a compilation of his previously published articles?
Thank you for joining the Political Conservatives group. Welcome!
