About meI'm currently reading my way around the world (aiming to "visit" each of the 192 member states of the UN), and I'm recording what I read on my journey in my thread in the Reading Globally group. I decided not to count things I'd already read, but rather to start from scratch; my aim is not to tick countries off as quickly as possible, but to discover new authors and learn about their cultures through their books.

About my library(not about my library at all, but rather things that have been recommended to me recently, so I don't forget).

Jamaica: Olive Senior (short stories), Erna Brodber (Jane and Louisa will soon come home), Lorna Goodison (short stories, Tamarind Season, I am Becoming my Mother), Colin Channer

hi rachel,

i've never really tried to find out what those features do actually. my guess is that interesting libraries mean just that -- some kind of a reminder. with the "friends" thing, i can easily see my "friends'" recent activities, e.g. adding new books, reviewing. to see that, go to your home page, go to "connections", then go further to "friends." referring to it is more handy and manageable, with the info already filtered. otherwise, i don't know what else these features offer...
hi rachel,

my apologies for this very delayed reply. i have been very busy these last months and like you, traveling and working outside my home base. i've only just returned to Lisbon and getting back to routine, including catching up on those reads I've had to set aside since March. i didn't even have time to follow the Portugal thread which I set up -- something i regret very much. anyways, hope you were able to finish W&P while you were in Poland and managed to get some Polish reading done while there. are u back in Brussels then? will surely look up your Polish reads recommendations as it's a gap in my reading map waiting to be filled.

best,

deebee
Hi Rachel,
Actually, it was your excellent review in Belletrista that made me want to read I'd Like. Your review motivated me to buy a copy of the book. I enjoyed it very much, and I'm sure I'll reread it before long. I'm happy to hear that you had a similar experience, of being left with the sense of having read a larger novel -- I wasn't sure if I was just imagining that!
I'm looking forward your next review!
Best regards,
Maggie
The holiday was fab - I miss the sea and cream teas.

Thanks for the add info, I'll give it a go.

Baba Yaga went in the post today - not yesterday, unfortunately, of which I spent a large portion in bed feeling sorry for myself - but hopefully still in time to reach you. Fingers crossed! Sorry for the delay.

Hola Rachel

LT somehow deleted your comment to me when I hit reply. I may have accidentally deleted it myself but I'm sure I didn't click the pop-up confirmation box.

My father and his parents were all born in the U.S. so I don't know where in Poland they are from. I doubt my father knows but I'll ask him next time I see him and we don't talk to his parents very often. I'm not sure how much further back they emigrated. On my mom's side, I know it was my great-grandparent and my grandparents were the first born here. But that doesn't help.

In that case, I'm glad I drew your attention to it ;) And I'll also give the book (and DH Lawrence in general) another try at some point. I think I was too young the first time.

Yes, I love the way the books are arranged at Daunt and will explore the 'flagship' store when my TBR pile's a bit smaller! The Holland Park branch is fairly new, I think. I discovered it by accident one day. Needless to say it was a very good day!
Hi! I'm intrigued by your half-a-star rating for Women in Love. I tried to read it about 10 years ago and made it to chapter three before deciding to cast it aside. Does it really not get any better then?!
Hola Rachel

I've added several books to my wishlist from your Talk threads so I figured I'd add you to my stats. I like looking at the Top Books from Interesting Libraries that you don't own list for recommendations.

I see you have "Read in 200x" collections too. I've been checking out how people are using them since they arrived and recently added several of my own beyond the defaults. I'm Polish through my father's side but don't speak the language and haven't read much from there. I've also enjoyed books by several of your favorite authors. My books on LT are only what I've read since I joined two years ago.
