About meMy 2019 Bookish New Year Resolution: to read/review my LTER wins in a more timely manner. I was going to add more resolutions, but let's face it, I'm just not going to read my unread books before buying more.

Happily childfree & single with 3 cats + 1 dog. Firmly situated in the spinster club, the tree-hugger camp, the book-hugger guild, and the crazy-cat-lady stereotype!

B.A., majored in English Literature (Medieval/Renaissance emphasis) & Religious Studies (Mysticism emphasis), minored in Anthropology (emphasis on folk medicine). Still daydreaming about getting my Master's in Library Science or Medieval Lit, even though I'm kinda old. Usually have several books going at once.

When not reading or working, I like to go geocaching, do cemetery photography & nature photography (flowers, trees, mushrooms), or go hiking at the state parks or on the Ice Age Trail. In summer I love going to the Renaissance Faire to watch the jousts & drink mead. I also enjoy Postcrossing & Bookcrossing, and continuing to explore my geneology (a heretofore taboo mystery now revealed as British/French/Huron/Scandinavian/Jewish). Currently writing and saving my sanity via Postcards to Voters!

I'm a coffeeholic & herbal teatotaler, triple Aries, Slytherin, adorer of the Virgin of Guadalupe, eclectic Witch (leaning Dianic Wicca), student of the Grey School of Wizardry, collector of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab perfume oils, lover of disco music, and an armchair traveler-daydreamer. I truly believe someday I will see a dinosaur.

About my libraryI use LibraryThing primarily as a card catalog of what I currently own, what I have read/reviewed in exchange for free books, and to keep track of my wishlist. I have read many other books that don't appear here, alas (high school, college, scifi/fantasy I no longer own, etc).

My library reflects my college majors along with a recent obsession for Viking stuff and filling in the gaps in my collection of 2nd Wave/Radfem works. My tastes are very eclectic: I enjoy a wide variety of fiction & nonfiction from biographies to chick lit, teen angst to gardening, medical reference & dictionaries to feminist manifestos & graphic novels, travel memoirs, history, cryptozoology, esoteric/occult knowledge & comparative religion, Scandinavian crime mysteries & psych thrillers. I generally despise, however, "historical romance" and "alternative history" as well as those history/classics/zombie/vampire "mashups". I generally don't do well with "read-alikes" either: I've tried them for Tom Robbins, Yrsa, and several others to no avail. My favorite novel is Even Cowgirls Get the Blues by Tom Robbins & I read it once a year, usually in summer. My next favorite is Sunshine by Robin McKinley & I go through streaks where I read it cover-to-cover multiple times in a row.
