About meMostly nice lady living in Athens, Greece with her husband and dog; no bad habits at all, independently wealthy, always washes the dishes before reading her book. Some of this is not true.

About my libraryI think I might have around 500 physical books at this point, after moving (and shedding books) countless times - once transcontinentally. Thanks to the wonders of the modern age, though, I have a huge library of digital books... which (along with the paper books) I am attempting to catalogue here. Very slowly.

I've tagged the books I can remember reading in 2008 with the original "read in 2008" tag, and the same for 2009. Well. Not exactly the same; these are actually tagged "read in 2009". My goal is to also review everything I read in 09. We'll see.

Oh, yes, and I meant to recommend the latest in the Aristide Ravel mysteries set in France around the time of the Revolution: "The Cavalier of the Apocalypse." Best of the three, and the other two are good too. It's a prequel, so can be read first if you haven't already read "Treasury of Regrets" and "Game of Patience."

Oh, yes, I just remembered the title of Bayard's other book I read: "The Pale Blue Eye." :)
Hi, Teresa ~ I was going through the old comments posted on my profile and saw yours about Bayard's "The Black Tower." Not sure if I thanked you for suggesting it. I read it awhile back and really liked it, so much so that I read another by Bayard, "The Bluest Eye" (I think that was the name ~ I'll have to check.
Senior moment at its best.) Anyway, hope all is well with you!

Hi,

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked The Wasp Factory, and I thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Hi, Taz_! I just came over from the 'Where are you in Fantasyland' thread in FantasyFans to say 'hello', since it'd be bound to get lost there. ^-^ (A horridly belated) Welcome to LT! ^-^
Hi, Teresa ~ Thanks for the tip on the Bayard novel "The Black Tower." I've got it on my TBR list and will check it out after the first of the year. "Treasury of Regrets" has gotten much more enjoyable now that I've passed the halfway mark. I'm now really into a couple of the characters, and the story has gotten more exciting.

We seem to have similar tastes in reading ~ a lot of the books I read are borrowed from the public library, so I don't put them in my library. We also seem to have a similar propensity for carting our books with us wherever we go. There are certain things about which there is just no compromising, and for me it's my books.

BTW, I laughed out loud when I read your "About Me" statement. Let me guess which part isn't true. Um, could it be the bit about washing the dishes before reading?

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

Mary
Wheeee! I figure at the rate I'm going, it's going to take me five years to finish uploading, and another 20 or 30 to tag and *maybe* rate. Yes.
I haven't actually read them yet, ormondsacker; these are among a pile that I'm attempting to sort out now.
Hi, taz_! Nice selection.

I've been teetering on the brink of picking up one of the Dresden Files series for a few months now. Worth it, d'ya think?
