Not sure why. But can't finish book. Can't get into the characters even though book came highly recommended by a friend. I gave it a good shot. Three chapters and I still want to put it down.

Excellent concept. Very, VERY dry prose. Main character's narration managed to turn what should have been exciting events into unbearable tedium. Which is a masterful, if unenviable, story-telling skill. Still - I admire it for being a pioneer of a genre, if for nothing else. ( )
