'The Quiet Game' is an utterly entertaining, very funny book with an interesting message, especially in todays' very loud, very cluttered world. It is a story with a slight mystery, and I found myself pulled into it right alongside Rhys, the main character who tells the story. The fact that one of the main characters, and Rhys's romantic interest, at that, doesn’t even speak as they get acquainted required some very clever writing to make it work, and I think Willa Okati succeeded very show more well.
Rhys is a waiter and bartender at a well-known restaurant, an incurable flirt, and likes manipulating people into giving him what he wants. He looks at his two friends who run the restaurant, and sort of wants what they have, but cannot imagine being happy with the same man year after year. Commitment-phobic to the extreme, he skips through life with a smile on his face and never really goes deeper than necessary.
Jareth is a man of no words at all, but he manages to attract Rhys's attention. His behavior Is extremely intriguing, after all, who goes through life without speaking? Not because he can’t – but because he chooses not to? I followed the unfolding mystery with rapt attention, laughed out loud several times, and hoped, just like Rhys, that Jareth would finally, finally open his mouth and speak.
If you like unusual and very creative stories that turn the "traditional" beginning of a romance almost on its head, if you enjoy reading about two men who enact a beautiful dance of seduction before a very passionate consummation, and if you're looking for a read that will keep you entertained, the you will probably like this short novella.

In a way or the other, the previous 4 stories in the Screen Shots series were about a couple or at least a triplet; then, it’s true, they all played together, and as I said before, the feeling was of a community based on love. One by one, all the men involved in twentysomethingtwinks.com, the porn website specialized in pretty twinks, found their match, and in the end, there is a spared one, the cameraman, Jake.
Jake is a college student who is writing his dissertation on the modern sex show more industry; he really tried to face things with the right distance, to not be involved in the game, but it was like taking a kid on a candy shop and saying him not to eat anything. Thank to a lucky coincidence, Jake and 9 of the twentysomethingtwinks.com “employees” (3 couples and a triplet) are trapped in the basement of the former farm converted in headquarter of the firm, and they all think it’s time to make Jake feel welcomed in their “family”.
It’s not only a surprise for Jake, but also for the reader: Jake will not play the role of the toy for all of them, but instead he will take the lead; more, he will also top Gabriel, the big bad boy who is the boss man in the triplet with Brandon and Dylan. This is a nice novella, and in a way even traditional, usually at the end of a loved series, authors write a wrap up story, where all the main characters of the previous books get together and celebrate their love, and so they do here; I have only a small complaint: Jake enjoys it all, and fully embraces the twentysomethingtwinks.com’s philosophy, but in the end, he is only a temporary player, he is not really a steady addition for any of the previous matched men; true he is having the time of his life, but I wouldn’t mind to see him paired with someone with whom he can go back at home when the game is over.

Don't you just love it when you start a new book and about two chapters or so in a realize that you are reading a monumental (to you personally) piece of work? One that is going to fuck with your top-10-of-all-time list? And you just never saw it coming, at all? The last time that happened to me was when I was reading [b:Point of No Return|15755751|Point of No Return|N.R. Walker|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1342504997s/15755751.jpg|21452958] and had a nice, tidy top 10 shelf here at show more GoodReads. When I was finished reading if, I threw that top 10 shelf out the window and created a fuck yeah, 5 stars shelf because I just couldn't limit my number to 10 anymore. And here we are, four months later, and my fuck yeah, 5 stars shelf has 26 titles on it. By the time I was done with the second chapter of [b:A Beautiful Disaster|17661158|A Beautiful Disaster|Willa Okati|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1363688659s/17661158.jpg|24651402] by [a:Willa Okati|16161|Willa Okati|http://www.goodreads.com/assets/nophoto/nophoto-F-50x66-2a9d702c2a0f483c9f7dd119cc28a9a7.jpg] I knew my list would now be up to 27.

Their journey is incredibly emotional, powerful, beautiful and stands out in my mind as the Mack Daddy in the genre of healing/comfort books, which is a current personal favorite of mine. It is not graphic or gratuitous, but it is heartbreaking to hear Sean talk about what he suffered and to see his physical and emotional reactions to what he suffered. But our damaged boys get a wonderful HEA and a glorious epilogue that literally had me weeping.
If you like your M/M romance where the boys have to REALLY work for their HEA, healing/comfort, awkward (at first) rough sex, tattoos and can handle some tears then I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND [b:A Beautiful Disaster|17661158|A Beautiful Disaster|Willa Okati|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1363688659s/17661158.jpg|24651402] to you. show less
