Imagine you're a cop, or a detective, or otherwise involved in law enforcement. You have to be on your guard all the time, in charge, and having a personal life of any kind is probably somewhere between difficult and impossible. In this story, four men have taken a unique approach to these problems. Their solution is secret get-togethers, once a quarter, where they can relax and catch up with themselves and each other. Friends since the academy, they trust each other implicitly. The unique show more "twist" to their pretty unique relationship is that one of the four gets to submit each time, having the other three's focus on him for an entire weekend. Since none of them submit easily (or would do so voluntarily, I suspect) they draw straws.

This novella focuses on one such weekend among many and describes some of the dynamics going on when four men get together, making one their sub. But beyond the purely physical aspects of such an arrangement (which are insanely hot!), there is more. What I found as I read the story was some real emotional involvement as well. I wouldn't exactly call it "romantic" because there were no hints as to the details, but based on what I saw here, I'd say it is entirely possible. Not that any of these guys would freely admit it...

While each man has definite characteristics, the focus, as the title indicates, is on Erik. He is a detective, as ambitious as the rest of them, and particularly resistant to submitting. He hasn’t drawn the short straw in over two years, and when he does, he is shocked. The other three men know the weekend will be good for Eric, but Erik himself has severe doubts and resists as hard as he can. A spanking or two, some play with sounds and a flogger later, and he's with the program. But this story isn’t all about the BDSM scenes they play, the emotions that go with it are equally important. It surprised and totally delighted me, since I find the psychology of what goes on in each man's head at least as interesting as the physical hotness.

If you're looking for tough cops being made to submit by their best friends and lovers - and liking it, if you enjoy stories with lots of man-on-man-on-man-on-man action, and if you're looking for a read that is hot and touching as the men reveal their vulnerabilities, then you will probably like this novella. For my part, I hope there will be a full novel about these four guys; there is certainly enough potential here for some really interesting developments in the future!

With the same kind of charm as the previous books in the series, plus some wonderful characters of its own, this fourth ‘Mannies Incorporated’ books had me invested from the very beginning. What made this story extra special was that Jack - the daddy looking for help with a legally blind almost-six-year-old son, Nathan, and newborn twin girls – and Dan –the trained manny – know each other from college days and used to be lovers. This adds a whole extra dynamic to their new show more relationship, and I enjoyed that part enormously. The way both men help Nathan deal with new sisters and life in general is heartwarming, and watching this newly forming family figure out how they fit together as they deal with all kinds of situations and obstacles was not just entertaining but touching as well.

Jack is a single father, ever since his ex left when Nathan turned out to be legally blind. He is about to have twins, and Nathan’s current nanny has graduated college and is planning to leave for graduate school. Jack, as you can imagine, is desperate to find a replacement, but Nathan has vetoed all applicants so far, and Jack is running out of time. He is s frazzled he doesn’t realize it’s Dan, his first lover in college, who has come for an interview. When he does? It’s a little awkward, but they never had a huge fight. Jack just wasn’t ready for kids back then, and Dan wanted children, so they parted ways. Fully aware of the irony of the situation, Jack still finds Dan to be competent, willing, and knows they can make this work.

Dan has spent the thirteen years since college being a manny and he loves his job. He is stunned to find Jack as his potential new employer but doesn’t let that stop him from giving serious consideration to taking on this new assignment. He is impressed with Nathan’s energy and abilities, he loves the idea of twin babies about to arrive, and he thinks Jack is as hot as ever, if not more so. There is no question for him that he’s going to give the job a try, and as wonderful as he is with Nathan, finding new ways to help the little boy become more independent, his presence is a big success.

The personal relationship between the two men, both now older and wiser than before, takes a little longer to develop… and I found the pacing to be just right. Nobody with that much responsibility is going to jump into a deeper commitment right away. But when they do? The satisfaction is all the better.

If you like lovers’ reunions of a slightly different kind, if watching two men deal with small kids is your thing, and if you’re looking for a sweet read with lots of aww moments and gradually developing emotions between two wonderful men and some great kids, then you will probably like this novel as much as I did.

Both hot and short, this story made me smile. Well, at least hen it wasn't making me lust after the brownies and the chocolate that were half the focus of this super-fun and very loving episode in Jim and Markus's life. From previous books, I know exactly how much trouble Jim can get into, but this time, he isn’t on is own. Baking brownies with his friend Tanny is fun, from the sound of it, but all the food-fighting and other things they get up to is as entertaining as producing delicious show more treats – and it gets both Jim and Tanny exactly what they want. Their masters' attention, of course!

Jim has been a very good boy (other than producing a bit of a mess in the kitchen), staying off the dreaded caffeine, and Marcus is proud of him. As a reward, Marcus starts to "torture" Jim with chocolate, and I'm not sure which of the two men has a better time. Neither of them cares much about that, though, they're both highly entertained, very aroused, and extremely satisfied at the end of their choc-capades.

If you like Jim and Marcus from 'Bent' and other stories, if you enjoy reading about men mixing sex and food in a very appealing way, and if you're looking for a quick read that is as entertaining as it is hot, then you will probably enjoy this short story.

Prior to reading: I have a feeling it is going to be sexy fluff but add a ginger to any book and I can be tempted. I'm so weak for red heads.

After reading: You'd think I'd know better by now? This is my tenth Sean Michael book and for some reason I can't quit him.

He writes some smutty shit and sometimes it works. It's like I'm a smut detective searching for the right story. Sadly, this was not one of them. Or should I say it is sort of a gem because I laughed so hard, at all the wrong show more reasons.

I cried.

I laughed so hard I cried.

Even driving today, thinking about this book I laughed and cried again because this story really should have been in the fantasy genre. Sadly it was contemporary but I swear the main characters were semen superheroes or penis sorcerers or erection wizards.

A thirty something ginger virgin visits a gay bar every Thursday for three years (Hmm...the every Thursday part reminded me of the premise of [b:The 51st Thursday|10791554|The 51st Thursday|Mercy Celeste|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1315021499s/10791554.jpg|15703861] - better book, IMO) and by 3% the owner of the bar is discussing plugging the virgin's ass with butt plugs and invites him to his apartment for coffee and to talk.

The ginger (Toby) can only string a few words together and can't seem to finish his sentences but is coerced into going upstairs with Damon (the bar owner)and proceeds to lose his virginity (with no issues BTW and receives a plugging of his life). No build up or anything. Toby appears to still be confused, in awe and in ecstasy? Toby doesn't really know what to feel. He questions how to feel, himself, his reactions...he puts the simple in simpleminded.

I don't know if he was supposed to be slow on purpose or the author was trying to play up Toby's naivete because dur virgins dur don't know nothing.

I have quotes for days on all the silly crap Toby said but I'm only giving a slice of Damon and Toby:

Ready for the plug, baby? Ready to feel it spreading you open so wide?"

"Uh-huh. I think so? Yes?"

*rolls eyes*

"You make me crazy. I can't...I can't think."

"Thinking is overrated, baby."

Which brings me to one of the many questions I have: If Toby doesn't seem to be aware of half the shit he does, why have him be in a relationship with a Dom? Doesn't that question the validity of his consent? Why am I questioning it? *shakes head* This is a book from the Sean Michael warped zone.

And what happens in this zone? Reality is obviously suspended because Toby and Damon can come multiple times in short periods with no breaks. They just are there to pump out jizz, enough to probably flood a river in Sean Michael warped zone. Hence why they are erection wizards, ready to pump and thrust their way into their own hearts. The story is also insta-love. The time period: a week which is like decades in the warped zone.

And I still read on with a smidgeon of hope that the story might sort of touch the realm of reality as it progressed.

But reality was kicked the hell out of here.

After Toby quasi-consented (I question his ability at this point. He still couldn't form coherent sentences other than saying he "needs") to having a penis piercing...the NEXT FUCKING DAY he receives a hand job and cums oodles. He can stand to have a hand on his FUCKING JUST PIERCED DICK! And then the kicker is, he wouldn't get into a bubble bath afterwards because of his RECENT PIERCING.

Well WTF am I reading for? What are words? *waves hands*

And then a supposed robbery is popped in to add DRAMA?

My brain has been snatched and I lost two IQ points reading this book.

Let me Toby-speak for you:

Rice snatch purple.

Scissor swift sleep.

Heavy yodel car.

Bleep blorp bloop.

2 STARS Why? I added the extra star for the laughs as unintentional they may have been."
