8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back: Natural Posture Solutions for Pain in the Back, Neck, Shoulder, Hip, Knee, and Foot by Esther Gokhale
I previously had posted a glowing review of this book here. 9 months and a fair bit of research/trial-and-error later, my feelings have changed quite a bit. The "what do native groups do" approach to posture seems appealing, but at least in my case, it didn't help any. In fact, after months of trying to ensure that my pelvic tilt was correct while sitting, in line with what I read in the book, I stopped trying and went back to my old natural posture. Lo and behold, my back felt better in show more that position! For me, my problems weren't caused by, or corrected by, posture (or walking technique, etc.).
I've had far greater success by using trigger point therapy. From what I've read, probably 80% (or even more) of the cases of low back pain are caused by trigger points, which this book won't really help with at all. For anyone with a low back pain problem, I'd suggest doing research on trigger points and myofascial pain. show less

8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back: Natural Posture Solutions for Pain in the Back, Neck, Shoulder, Hip, Knee, and Foot (Remember When It Didn't Hurt) by Esther Gokhale
I've read numerous books over the years related to back pain, and tried the programs they recommend. I have had more success with the approach outlined in this book than with any other I've tried. The focus is on lengthening the spine and using proper posture to keep from putting it into harmful positions. Of course, there's no telling how it will help anyone else, but it's been quite useful for me.

Wonderful pictures and well organized. Studying the book, and finally taking the course, fixed my back. I am still reviving muscles that I neglected for the middle part of my life.

Review from reading, not from putting it into practice. Going to try some of the ideas but there's a queue in the library for it.
Whether or not it works probably boils down to if it's your style or right for you, rather like a lot of other things.
