If you race home, drop everything, and immediate dive back into a book it's a pretty safe bet that you're 'into it'. Girl Online is one of those young adult novels that sucks you right in and makes you fall in love with the characters right off the bat. Penny is a completely believable character. This is an important point to make because in a lot of novels it's like the characters are too much if you get what I mean and it makes it difficult to put yourself in their place. It's not like show more that with Sugg's protagonist. I found myself alternately smiling from ear-to-ear and blinking back tears. It's exactly what being a teenager was like for me...except more English. lol The format of narrative interspersed with blog posts wasn't disruptive to the flow either which I appreciated. I predict that a lot of teenagers are going to be talking about this one (if they're not already). If I were you, teen, grownup, geriatric, android, I'd give this one a read. Oh and did I mention that Zoe is already working on a second book? I sure hope it's a sequel!! show less
"Two For Joy" started where "One For Sorrow" finished. However, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book in the series. For one thing, many characters who hardly played a role in "One For Sorrow" suddenly had starring roles while Audrey's overuse of "wanna" and "gonna" drove me crazy. Also, I didn't like Ivy as much as I did in the first book.
I enjoyed the first half better than the second (except for the last couple of chapters and epilogue which were fantastic) because I felt that much show more of the latter half was padded out with unnecessary events and dialogue and I was frustrated with the way Audrey and Ivy were fighting all the time,
However, the overall storyline was quite good and it was an easy read. As for the ending . . . WHOA! I did not see that coming at all. I was left stunned! show less

CW:Mental health, discussion of suicide, discussion of inappropriate teacher student relationship.
Well that was an enjoyable YA mystery.
I actually liked the characters and thought the story unfolded at an appropriate pace. The slow build up worked for me, as taking the time to build relationships and set the scene is an important part of building a readable series. I think the target audience will enjoy the slight twists and turns, with various characters up for the role of show more 'dunnit'. I loved the podcast series, although I wish we had been kept in the dark about it's creator for a bit longer. A good addition to a high school library. show less

I am actually surprised by how much I enjoyed "One For Sorrow". Although a bit predictable and simplistic, the characters were likeable and I enjoyed the murder mystery. I also liked the dual narrative between Ivy, a scholarship student at Illumen Hall, and the new American girl, Audrey. They are totally different in personality and class, and far from perfect, but after the initial clashes, I admired how they worked together to solve the mystery of Lola.
For me, the "Who Killed Lola" show more podcasts were the most interesting aspects of the novel, but I wish the authors had waited longer to reveal who their creator was because until then I thought it provided an interesting, secondary mystery. As for the ending - wow! What a cliff-hanger!!! I am looking forward to the sequel. show less
