I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. NayeLi is a learner from another planet. She has been here on earth for eight years in her human host with one year left to go. She inhabiting a beautiful human host, but has been using a memory shield, which allows her to interact with other humans meanwhile erasing their memory of the incident.
Jared is a successful doctor. He lost his wife two years prior in horrendous car accident caused by a drunk driver. Unable to show more move on, he continually thinks of her and still drives her Lexus that she only had two weeks to enjoy. His friends and family think that he’s spent enough time mourning, and begins setting him up on dates. None of these women have the beauty his wife had to capture his attention…until now.
This is a great paranormal romance! Jared’s attraction to NayeLi is instantaneous. The characters have such interesting personalities and the situations so descriptive that I was drawn in from the very beginning and kept captivated right up until the end. The only issue that I had was the constant use of the alien terminology; the confusion took away from the story. Other than that, I’m looking forward to the next in the series. show less

Amoreena Daniels is a top-of-the-class pre-med student and she’s helping her mother fight a losing battle with cancer. On top of everything else her mother lets her health insurance lapse and now she’s not covered for any of the expensive treatment for her cancer. What is a daughter to do? Well, Amoreena finds out about a surrogacy program and, after much thinking, signs a contract. Then finds out things aren’t all what they seem to be.
This book was an easy read for me. It flowed show more smoothly, the characters were well-fleshed and the story progressed in a timely manner without excess description. I had a hard time putting it down. I wanted to know what the heck was going on, so I was compelled to keep turning the pages. Alan Nayes dropped breadcrumbs to the mystery in well-timed proportions. In other words, before I got too frustrated in the unraveling and peeked ahead. A fine balancing act!
The only problem I had was that Amoreena was an excellent pre-med student and she kept ignoring not only factual information about pregnancy in general, but her own gut feelings as well. I kept wanting to smack her upside the head, but it was only an occasional urge, so I was able, for the most part, to ignore it.
All-in-all a most excellent read! I definitely look forward to reading more books by Alan Nayes.

I received this book through librarything's member's giveaway. I was truly amazed with the quality of the writing and the well developed characters. I often find scenic descriptions to be so detailed they become tedious. That was not the case here. Mr. Nayes is amazing in his writing style. The book is both heartwarming and heartwrenching at the same time. Not many books have cause be to be both happy and sad for the main characters at the same time. My only regret was the ending, I won't show more give it away, but I had hoped for something different. All in All it was a wonderful read. show less
Kelly English just received the news that her father, who she hasn't seen or heard from since she was three, just died. At her mothers request, Kelly must go to Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin and close his estate. Kelly is hesitant, but her strong will pushes her to a destiny only the Gods could have foretold.
Once there, Kelly must face the reality of the man she never knew but longs to understand. With the help of Mitch Gabriel and an unexpected fishing trip, she discovers that love comes in show more many different forms and can last a lifetime.
Warning: The tears will flow.
Sometimes you read something and it changes you. You appreciate your life so much more and thank the heavens for the wonderful life you have. I finished this beautiful piece of fiction and then dreamed about it. How cool is that? I fell in love with the characters. My heart bleed when the inevitable happened and when it was over. Even now my eyes are starting to mist because my heart is weeping with joy and sadness. What an art form Barbary Point is. I saw the water, felt the wind and was over joyed with the discoveries. This novella will stay with me for a long time. Stories like this only come around once in a great while. If you want to feel, Barbary Point by Alan Nayes is a must read. You won't be disappointed!
Congratulations, Mr. Nayes on receiving the special Five and a Half Blue Roses! I'm so thrilled to have found Barbary Point.
