⭒˚.⋆ ❝I would betray the king before I betrayed my God, no matter the cost❞ ⋆.˚⭒
Thought provoking and heart-wrenching, A Crown of Chains is an Esther-inspired fantasy that left me stunned and speechless, and still has me thinking about it even months later. Set in a vibrant, world with a diverse array of intriguing races (including satyrs, which are not one I see often in books!) and characters, it tells a dark, but ultimately hopeful tale, using the darkness show more of a broken world to better illustrate the overwhelming goodness and triumph of the light. The author does not shy away from difficult topics, instead dealing with them in a tasteful, God-honoring manner, making her story all the stronger and compelling as she does so. And I really appreciate it when a book is able to pull that kind of thing off.
However, because of how many darker, triggering subjects it deals with, I recognize that this book is not for everyone. Especially sensitive readers may find it too upsetting to be enjoyed. And that's okay. ❤ show less

The story of rich boy from Boston meeting average girl from regular town was ok. It took the route where the girl tries to adjust and change in order to fit into his world but the boy does little to learn about hers. The ending made sense with the story. This one is just the type of story I really like personally in this series.
