John Lockyer's Red Rocket Reader book, 'Basketball' is a fictional easy read for second graders interested in the sport of basketball. The text starts off with self-reflecting questions to peak readers' interest. The story starts with historical information about the game and progresses into rules, techniques, and professional sports teams. The photos show real kids of all different races and ethnicities playing basketball. The book gives an inspirational and encouraging message of practice show more makes perfect.
