This is a DNF. The book jacket promised mystery and romance, and just delivered explicit gratuitous sex scenes. It was so heavy on the sex that it interfered with the plot. I like steamy bits now and then, but this was overdone. I read 176 /416 pages.

This book was okay. The hero and heroine seemed fairly realistic and the writing was fine. It did drag in the middle when the author was a bit heavy handed with explanations of surfing and surfing as a business. This seemed to drag on and I did have to force myself through that part. It was a fairly large info dump disguised as conversation.

The romance part was a little under developed. Here was another hero struggling to get over his dead wife and a heroine who thought she coudn't compete show more with the dead woman. This is how it was set up but not a whole lot was made of this. It was like the author would occasionally think "oh I've got to throw in a tidbit about the romance. I'll toss in a line about the dead wife." The heroine made a few assumptions about the hero's feelings for the dead wife that didn't have a lot of basis in what had actually been written. More attention was paid to the suspense plot and the romance at times seemed clunky.

The suspense part was okay. The premise of a supposedly dead heroine was interesting but didn't play out much into the actual story. It wasn't obvious who done it but the end was a bit overblown. I won't say more so as not to spoil it.

Not a bad book but I'm glad it wasn't something I paid money for and I won't necessarily pick up the next one, but I'm not totally agin it.

I loved the setting of this book on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Greg is part of the Maui search and rescue team and is training a disaster dog when the dog discovers an injured woman in a car at the bottom of a ravine. The woman is unconscious and appears to be dressed as a prostitute. At the hospital they find that the woman has a rare form of amnesia, is wearing a dead woman's shoe, and the car she was found in was stolen. Greg has been burned in a past relationship so he has trust show more issues and wants nothing to do with her. But he gives the woman the name 'Lucky' and helps her uncover the mystery surrounding her identity. This was the first book I have read by Sawyer and I was not very impressed with it. A bit long winded and I'm not that fond of amnesia plots or heros who believe the worst of a girl just because she's dressed like a hooker. (Grade: C) show less
No one in Twin Oaks knows about the deal Kaitlin Wells cut with the Feds for her release. But everyone remembers her scandalous arrest for stealing money from the Mercury Bank. Now, three years later, Kat has come home to catch the real thieves and prove her innocence. Trouble is, some powerful folks don't want her digging up the past...or getting friendly with new sheriff Justin Radner. But some laws can't be ignored - like white-hot attraction. And soon determined Kat and her handsome, show more daring lawman are risking love and life to expose the lies that will bring down a murderer...before the killer strikes again. show less
