In a Door, Into a Fight, Out a Door, Into a Chase: Moviemaking Remembered by the Guy at the Door by William Witney
Great look at director William Witney and the Republic serials. Well written. Witney and his crew really churned them out but cared about a quality product and were responsible for several innovations. However, the book ends when he goes into the service and I sure would have loved to have read more stories about his post-war career working with Roy Rogers and Rex Allen. Couldn't put this one down.
A slim but loving tribute to Trigger. Witney worked with Roy Rogers and Trigger in 25 films and this book is Witney's remembrances of this very special horse. Some great stories here, that probably have been repeated in other books, but it is nice to hear them from (no pun intended) the horse's mouth.
