My husband thought that subscribing to this Time-Life series when we first got married would be a great wedding present to me. And he wasn't wrong! This is the first one that came. I have made quite a few of the muffin and quick bread recipe in this book. I did discover early on though that if a recipe calls for fruit, refrigerate the muffins or quick bread. Otherwise they mold.
I enjoyed the Sour Cream-Maple Muffins, the Oatmeal-Raisin Bread, the Whole-Wheat Banana Nut Bread, the show more Apple-Cheddar Muffins, the Nutted Squash Bread, and the Herbed Cheese-Beer Bread. There was another muffin recipe with bacon that I ended up burning. Otherwise, I'm sure it would have been good, too.
My only complaint with this series is that Time-Life stopped publishing books BEFORE I finished the series! So they called me one day and said I had received all the books. I thought that was okay, but when I went to a bookstore and saw ALL the volumes in this series, I realized I was missing about one third, if not one half. Eventually, I'll find them all used. show less

This is a great staple book for your kitchen. I use it frequently and have had no failures. It is not particularly inspired though.
