Good straightforward guide to the classic, if basic, Chinese dishes. Written for Westerners and easy to follow, but still maintaining the achievable level of authenticity. An excellent book for those just learning to cook at all.
This is a very nice little book on Chinese cuisine. Mr. Lo discusses many aspects of Chinese food culture -- how a meal is structured, methods of cooking, tools, ingredients, table manners. He also provides vocaulary and pronounciation guides in Mandarin and Cantonese. All this is in addition to recipes for about 100 dishes.
Covers the basics, but could do with some colour photographs of the dishes.
