Charlotte Raine has returned with another awesome read and a new character in Tia Blackburn. Tia is not your typical heroine, as she's struggling with demons and addictions of her own. She's also involved with some shady people and earns her money in less than stellar pursuits. However, she's quick-thinking, smart and has plenty of audacity as she goes about trying to find Wes Fiorit's brother. He's on his own quest to find him, and as this unlikely duo hooks up, it's one thrill ride after show more the next. Charlotte Raine is very adept at pulling out surprise after surprise, and twisting the story in one direction and another, until you're not sure who the goods guys and bad guys are. This is suspense at its finest. The read is short, sweet and action-packed and you'll want to jump into this series right from the beginning with this excellent first entry.

I just love a story where you know the main characters are attracted to each other but they are so emotionally messed up that they can’t let their true feelings be known.
The reader is immediately plunged into the characters lives and you feel empathy for them. The banter between Grant and Daniels is amusing and natural.

Aaron Grant has been suffocated by his grief, living in an alcohol induced cloud since his wife and daughter were killed in a house fire. When his daughter’s best friend show more is kidnapped he knows he must sober up and find her before he fails his daughter all over again.

The story is plot driven so some of the characters actions and thought processes are out of the blue but that aside Midnight Sun is fast-paced and action filled. The ending is tied up well and a little teaser leaves the reader eager for book two “Devil’s Dawn.”

This was a very gripping and unique read. I love Charlotte Raine's style of writing. It's fast-paced and suspenseful, yet she's able to convey a lot about the characters and the setting without being wordy. It's this style that helps to keep the tension high and the thrills coming non-stop. This book was different in that it was set in Alaska. I was able to get a feel for the surroundings and I think it really enhanced the story. These are characters that will stay with me, and that's no show more easy feat for a book, when you read as much as I do. I would highly recommend any book by Charlotte Raine, but especially this one. It's the start of what promises to be a great series. show less
Charlotte Raine has a unique voice and in "Do You Want to Play?," her first novel, we are introduced to it by way of a very intriguing and enjoyable mystery. This is actually the first in what is now a series, and as Lauren and Tobias track down the PVP Killer, we are introduced to them as they meet and get to know each other. This mystery is fast-paced and suspenseful, and you feel like you're right there as part of the investigation. It also has many light-hearted moments as Lauren and show more Tobias banter back and forth and begin to fall in love. An excellent job for a first novel, and as I've since come to know, par for the course for this excellent writer. show less
