- Short biography
- Sharon Kendrick was born in England, and grew up near Heathrow Airport. She has been writing stories for as long as she can remember and completed her first book at the age of eleven. It featured identical twins fighting evil at their boarding school, but sadly this early manuscript has been lost.
Sharon wanted to be a journalist and so enroled on a secretarial course to learn shorthand and typing, but life kind of got in the way and she drifted in and out of a succesion of jobs. She has been a waitress, a cook, a dancer and a photographer. She has worked in shops and sung in bars and she qualified as a nurse and drove an ambulance across the Australian desert!
When she settled down and married her dashing doctor, she decided life was not a rehearsal and that if she wanted to write a book she'd just have to sit down and do it. Not easy with a lively toddler and a six-month-old baby while living in a tiny apartment. But she did it, and so Nurse in the Outback was born, and it was accepted by Mills & Boon without any changes.
Since then Sharon has gone on to write many books for Mills & Boon and they have been published worldwide. She adores writing romance and considers herself lucky to have the best job in the world! It is a fantastic way to spend a day - inventing gorgeous heroes and complex, interesting women and charting all the ups and downs, the highs and lows of their relationship until they are really ready to let love into their hearts. She intends to carry on writing for ever and why not? For what greater pleasure could be gained than when a reader writes to tell you that you moved her to laughter and tears?
Sharon's interests are chocolate and music, fresh flowers and bubble baths, films and cooking. Sharon regularly visits London and Paris and lives in Winchester, England. - Nationality

Zayed Al Zawba. He is so unbelievably arrogant you are just dying for him to take a great fall.
Unfortunately the heroine, Jane Smith , is in a serious bind and to agree to his 'proposal' will help her out of an otherwise impossible situation.
He thought Jane was going to fit into his plan as she is 'plain Jane' so he can divorce her on the grounds on an unconsummated marriage. But she is more than he bargained for. His attitude is so out of date and chauvinistic, and incredibly insulting he show more is incredibly dislikeable.
Quite frankly she deserved better. show less

I picked this up because a bunch of us on Twitter were dumbfounded and kind of outraged that a Goodreads reviewer had downgraded the book because the HEA involved an adoption rather than a miracle pregnancy. Sharon Kendrick is a very good writer of categories, but often her books are kind of over the top for me (lots of Sheikhs and extremely alpha males, with concomitant dramatics between the hero and heroine). But this is a lovely, quietly emotional book.
Lexi and Xenon separated after show more Lexi's second miscarriage, and she has rebuilt her life and is living in a quiet Devon village making silver jewellery. Xenon shows up and basically blackmails her into reuniting as a couple for his sister's new baby's christening. I rolled my eyes at the setup because Lexi was being a classic martyr heroine, but the rest of that trope gets subverted a bit by the end. Her mixture of happiness and pain at sharing in christening is beautifully done, and the enduring bond between Xenon and her is believable. The way they resolved their issues felt authentic to me. The book reminded me of how a category can plumb some deep issues and emotions in a tight word count when the author knows what she's doing, and Kendrick does a masterful job. The epilogue is a bit clunky (lots of time and information are compressed), but that's OK, you believe in how they got there. show less

Crowned for the Prince's Heir by Sharon Kendrick was an enjoyable read.
It was your classic second chance romance and passed an enjoyable couple of hours for me.
Dress designer Lisa Bailey protecting her broken heart ends her liaison with Prince Luciano Leonidas of Mordovia.
A couple years later Luc hankering after the one that got away and on the brink of a politically advantageous marriage with a neighbouring princess has a brief run-in show more with Lisa which ends less than pleasantly between them.
Fast forward a few months and Luc spots Lisa in the local rags and she's six months pregnant with what is obviously his child.
This is where our story really begins in earnest and I really can't say too much else without revealing all.
What I will say is that though I enjoyed this I wasn't overly fond of the male lead Luc.
I found him a rather selfish arrogant individual at times with a bit of a god complex.
Despite this, I did try to warm up to him as I felt he was probably a product of his cold upbringing.
Raised by a revolving door of palace governess's and nannies is it any wonder he lacked in the emotional department.
I don't feel that he had felt real love until his daughter was born, which is really rather sad.
Lisa was also a product of her early years and had developed a suit of armour to compensate.
It's a wonder these two emotionally stunted individuals managed to eventually pull it together.
I also wanted Lisa to grow a backbone as I felt she gave up her dream of designing much too quickly.
And I didn't feel the bone that was thrown at the end of this made up for this fact.
In conclusion this was an enjoyable easy read but didn't ultimately hold many overall surprises.
So I was provided with an ARC of "Crowned for the Prince's Heir" By Netgalley of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I have not read the first book in this series but that is ok as this book is a stand alone novel. This is another book that I have read recently where I found myself really into the storyline and the characters. Olivia takes the lead as a strong female but don't count Saladin out too quickly as he can dish it right back to Olivia as much as she can hash it out. Their chemistry was undeniable. Plus they kept the story entertaining with their comments. I would not mind being stuck in a cabin show more in the winter with someone like Saladin. Even though Saladin is rich, he never flatted it and was down to Earth. The Sheikh's Christmas Conquest is a fun, quick, steamy read. show less
