This is just for the record. Well before the Soviet Union collapsed, Michael Kidron and Ronald Segal set out to explain liberal capitalism at its height - before perestroika, before the internet, before 2008, before Trump and Brexit and before COVID19 - and they did a very good job.

But, obviously, it is now completely out of date and only of historical interest. It is time for someone to do a new version taking into account all these changes (and the politics of climate change as well) so show more that we can see whether the nexus of business, money and power has changed much in 25 years.

I suspect not very much ... the cards have just got shuffled a bit and the kleptocracies have changed their ideological clothes somewhat but where we are now is not fundamentally different from where we were when it comes to who has the power and who does not.

This books presents statistical data on the map of the world. It's strength is that it really gets you to think about geographical relationships differently. It's weakness is that the actual data ages rapidly and is no longer accurate.
