Hmm. My first Adam Davies book. It seemed like chick-lit for guys. I don't know what I expected. Not quite this. There were some funny parts. There were some clever parts. I was even a little stressed out by this book which at the time I knew was wasted emotion. I even thought to myself sometimes "Why am I reading this book?"
Why indeed? The story premise sounded interesting - a top-notch security guard (and I mean, really top-notch) is bested by the Rat Burgler. The Rat Burgler steals show more whatever object of art the pulse is guarding that month. So, he's in danger of getting demoted. And then his personal like is all messed up - he's got a loan shark after him, not to mention serious issues with his girlfriend and A LOT of debt. He is really messed up. And then when it can't get any worse, it gets worse.
There sure were a lot of footnotes in this book. Actually, they were funnier than the main novel.
So, I'm mixed as to what I thought of it. Not exactly my style, maybe a little bit too silly for me. It's light reading - real light. Even the torture scenes are rather light. And maybe that's a bad thing? Or a work of genius? And talking to my husband about it, he said "That's not a guy book, that's a girl book!"
Maybe so? show less

I didn't finish the book. I tried, I really did. It should be a book I enjoyed.
The odd part is, I can't say why I didn't like it. The writing was fast, and snappy, the characters were interesting, the plot, just odd enough to be fun, but not too outlandish to be silly - but the book just did not resonate with me. And, As a whole, I found it to be too... something. The characters didn't interest me, the plot should of been good, but I didn't find it compelling. And honestly, I really can't show more put my finger on why I found this book so boring. Maybe it was me, or maybe it was the book. Either way, life is too short for books that aren't interesting. show less

Mine All Mine is a neat blend of humor, absurdity, and drama, complete with footnotes and a vocabulary that would ace a college entrance exam. This novel is a step up in the misfit crime-solver genre made popular by lighter reads such as Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. A great read for men and women, if you are looking for a smart book with dark humor, a touch of romantic drama, and a great plot, make a clean getaway with Mine All Mine.
What a great book! I love the ending- not your typical shmaltzy stuff. I met this author and he is a really down to earth, nice guy.
