About the Author

Born in Nevada in 1901, Milton Erickson grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. As a pioneer in the use of hypnosis, he established hypnosis as a valid and effective therapeutic technique. His books on hypnotherapy, although geared toward health professionals in medicine, dentistry, and psychotherapy, are show more written in an original and personal style. Both a psychiatrist and a psychologist, Erickson was a member of many national and international professional organizations. At the time of his death in 1980, he was the world's leading practitioner of medical and therapeutic hypnosis. (Bowker Author Biography) show less

By far one of the most entertaining reads of anything involving Dr Erickson's discussions. Can't help thinking he has a much dirtier mind than the average psychiatrist, but it worked! I am not sure some of it would be allowed today although this is certainly an entertaining read!
Fascinating the way that Milton Erickson used the power of metaphor to heal his clients. The stories are often deceptively simple, but they obviously worked because people were prepared to travel hundreds of miles for a consultation with this great psychiatrist and hypnotist. A must read for healers.
Books Read in the Past:

I admire and use Ericksonian techniques, and found this book to be quite good enough, but it's not one of the most spectacular therapist training texts I've encountered.
