- “Zoe Chant” is a small group of friends (and professional authors) who bonded over our great love of all things shifter way back in 2014 or so. We collectively work on the books together, and have a ton of fun doing it.

Oh, that's glorious. I like but don't love C.E. Murphy's urban fantasy - no problems with it but it never quite catches me. I'm clearly going to have to hunt up more of her paranormal romance, under these (this?) pen names. Rich, complex characters with solid backstories; interesting setting, and interesting secondary characters. Romance, a couple explicit sex scenes and a lot of kissing. And one of the _funniest_ books I've ever read! The characters manage to be so beautifully embarrassed, show more and laughing at themselves and each other, over all the unintentional (and some intentional) innuendoes they come up with. A bunny shifter does lend interesting highlights to common phrases... Wonderful book, great story and great ending (HEA but not a simplistic one). Next please! This is late in the series, but I don't feel I was missing any important info. show less
Ok, that was fun. And almost as full of unintentional (and some intentional) double entendres as Somebunny To Love. Also like Somebunny, the characters' reaction was to laugh at themselves, which made me laugh too. Lots of sex scenes, all fairly to completely abstract (vigorous rolling on the floor was the complete description of one); even more kissing and cuddling, frequently interrupted by a four-year-old hurricane and his puppy. A couple real villains, thoroughly dealt with, and a lot of show more people being helpful and kind. Not quite as much fun, for me, as Somebunny (no idea why, I guess I just liked those characters more), but I do like Mabs and Jake and Noah. Enjoyable, readable and rereadable, and I do want to go on with the series. Jake doesn't think anyone knows about shifters, and doesn't think there's many still in town; the bunny knew there were lots. I want to see the transition, and these books are fun. show less
I've consistently loved Zoe Chant for awhile now, and this one is Zoe at the top of her game. There's SO MUCH to love in here I can't possibly list everything, but here are two things:
1.) Angus, Tamsin's dog, is FABULOUS. ("The Pomeranian, curled up in his customary spot on her office chair, shot her a look that very clearly conveyed that this was unacceptable and he wished to speak to her manager.") It's especially great that Cuan, 6-foot-plus warrior of the fae, is terrified of Angus - and show more it doesn't seem at all misplaced.
2.) Then there's the description of Cuan wearing the expression of a man desperate for the sweet relief of a direct lightning strike.
But there's so much more. Zoe Chant has a marvelous talent for creating multi-dimensional characters easy to identify with, and stories with emotionally satisfying depth that avoid cliché even when that seems impossible. Enjoy this one, and then do as I do, and devour every word she writes! show less

AVOID THE AUDIOBOOKS FOR THE SERIES- unless accent mangling doesn’t bother you…or the realisation of how often FMCs say “oh” in so many different tones.
In this latest tale in the series, the villain is SO obvious SO early that it makes the poor subterfuge in “Firefighter Pegasus” appear worthy of Hitchcock. Otherwise, it’s fun to see the growth in the characters; these are not standalone books.
