I really enjoyed this book. Helen Keller has always been someone who I have thought of as an extremely influential person. I like how the book gives a great overview of Helen Keller's life in words that are easy to understand for a wide age range of audiences. I also enjoyed the illustrations in this book. They did a great job accompanying what was being said by the author on each page, making the book easy to understand. I also like how although this book is a biography, there were not too show more many dates or statistics in the book. Sometimes I feel that biographies are overloaded with this type of information which can make it less enjoyable to read. This book did not include this which made it a lot more approachable. I also really enjoyed the message of the book which primarily served to explain Helen Keller's life, and highlight how Keller overcame many of her adversities. She was able to do things that she once thought were impossible. Keller's story also encourages people everywhere who have hearing or sight impairments to dream big and realize that they are able to accomplish so much. show less
I found this book to be quite enjoyable. The main idea in this biography of Helen Keller is to never give up and push through your challenges. I believe that this is an important story. Helen Keller had to struggle through many hardships and is shown in a wonderful way how she overcame them in a way that young readers can understand. Helen was outcasted most of her earlier childhood, she was angry all the time and one teacher made the difference. She learned how to sign and was able to show more finally communicate. She showed so much determination and this shows the readers that really anything is possible. I also enjoyed the illustrations, while they are not a critical part of the book they add powerful visuals. show less
I really enjoyed this book for many reasons. The main idea of this book is to never give up and to fight for what you believe in. I feel as though this is a really important story. It is an easy read but pulls an extremely heavy topic. Harriet Tubman is an inspiration to so many people throughout history and today. This book covers her hardship as a slave and how she gained her freedom. But the story doesn’t stop there. Once Harriet was a free woman she stands up for what she believed in show more and sought out to free more slaves. This shows the reader that one person can make a world of difference. I really enjoyed the illustrations in this book. Even though they are not crucial to the story, they provide a sometimes-powerful visual. show less

I feel as thought this is a really important story. It beautifully shows the hardships that Helen Keller had to overcome, but on a sizable reading level.
