“Female warrior fighting demon hunters and outstanding sex”
Cady Swann is an ordinary 30 year-old woman with many hidden talents. She owns a cat, works in a bookstore and owns a home. But at sixteen she lost both her parents and watched her baby brother be tortured by demons. So by day it’s the bookstore and at night she stalks these Daemon hordes to protect her town of Lula, Georgia. Her dedication is strong but she is beginning to feel that she is losing the fight.
Onto the scene, show more appears Obsidian, who is sent to convince Cady to join forces with the Shikars, a race that has been fighting the Daemon for centuries. As their strongest warrior, the Shikar Alliance believes Obsidian can forge the affiliation with Cady. Their first meeting ends in a heated battle with Obsidian healing Cady’s injuries without her knowledge.
Against all odds, Cady is attracted to the immortal Obsidian and he to the human woman. Together they form an alliance and work to close the demon’s gateway before the Daemon Horde overtakes Earth.
The action and steamy and passionate sex are more than enough for me to recommend this book. I love to see a competent woman who can lead. The relationship between Cady and Obsidian is very well written, combining the strong personalities and the intense sexual attraction. Story has some very inventive sensual situations that will keep you on the edge of your seats.
Looking forward to the next adventures of the Shikar race if Obsidian is any example of the “hero” we can expect. show less

I’m not embarrassed that I bought a bad anthology - it had 2 authors I liked and I like anthologies. I'm embarrassed that I kept it in my reread pile. So once upon a time one of these 3 unreadable trite weird stories must have resonated sufficiently for me to think I would want to reread it. I bought it in 2004 and am now going through a rigorous reread of my keepers, (basically because I've got too many of them!) to see if they truly merit the title. And some have. But this definitely show more doesn't.
The first story didn't work for me at all. The second story by Lora Leigh, you think would work for me, because I've read a lot of Lora Leigh and generally like her earlier stuff better than what she is churning out now. But it's so annoying. The hero is totally unreasonable (furious that she may have slept with another man, when she thought he died years ago, wait, that was a theme in a later book too! Leigh must think that crazy stuff works) and the heroine has no spine at all (she's human, no some wereworm or anything, though that might be a more interesting spin on it!) The third is just weird, with the heroine falling into some time warp and being captured on another planet and finding true love with a gargoyle. I think it's why I kept it initially, but it does not shine on reread. So happy to return this to the paperbackswap pile, where there were 132 folk waiting on it. I hope it moves on quickly! show less

I don't have much to say about this book. It was OK for a vamp romance. There were a couple of nice twists to the usual vampire lore, but I felt that the main characters were two-dimensional. I couldn't really get a sense of either one of them. The romance was fine, the sex was fine. It's a quick read.
Mischa is running her trimaran through a series of tests before she races with her. She is caught in a storm and travels back to the past where she lands on a pirate ship. She and Captain Jareth butt heads on her place. I loved Mischa's feistiness. She will not allow Jareth to tell her what to do. She does what she wants and earns his admiration. This is a fun read!
