So the Sherrilyn Kenyon story Turn up the Heat? Not bad, Allison George wins a competition to live out a fantasy on an island and finds herself attracted to a man who on paper is the wrong man for her but makes her heart beat a bit faster. I loved Allison, determined, strong, but willing to concede when she needs help. I laughed a few times during it, I'd probably score this one 3.5 stars.
However I'm not sure why it is bundled in with the other two. And the other two are forced seduction show more stories. The Jaid Black story, Hunter's Oath, made me think of John Norman's Gor stories. Woman kidnapped and sold on a block, naked, and also add in some sort of drug that makes her crave sex? That's sexy? That she comes to terms with her incarceration and "love" her owner? That's not love that's plain survival stuff. Not pushing my erotic buttons here, out of the framing story the sex would probably be erotic, inside it, no. It scores 2/5
And then Kresley Cole adds The Warlord wants forever. Now what Myst did to Wroth wasn't good. Leaving him with a boner for five years, ouch. However, what he did was, in my book, unforgivable. Using her necklace to make her like sex with him? Overriding her wants? Threatening her with making her forget her family, her impulses, her own self in order to make her over to be the pliant sex toy he wants? I'm sorry, no, not sexy, not titilating, not attractive in the slightest. I've read a few of the stories in this series and this is making me want to stop. I have things that I really don't like in books and forced seduction is a no-no. To resolve this story he would need to do a lot more grovelling for me, honestly, I would have let him burn up in the sun, if I had been Myst. 1/5 show less

A good and different sort of romance book. It is to be considered both a thriller suspense-romance, but also an unconventional romance that involves the D/s world (lightly).
Dr. Nikki Adenike has a curious draw toward the darker fantasy life, but with her busy schedule there's not much time to meet potential non-boring candidates. After taking to the personal columns, she encounters the ideal master who instead may be tied up with a serial killing spree. Fun stuff. Enter a brooding, show more determined detective and things get even wilder.
First, on the thriller aspect. It was a well-written side mystery. There were red herrings and misleading evidence to frustrate the detectives, some close scares and calls for the heroine, a best friend making her mark with the psychic warning vibe, and confused cops frustrated by their lack of progress hunting down a 9-year spree serial killer. I wasn't surprised at the final villain, though, because he was sort of the only one left in the pot.
The murders are pretty gruesome and there's a few, so the story mainly focuses on this, but the relationship with Nikki and Thomas rocked as well. It may be kinky but the focus was on the romantic bond. Steam existed too, trust me, well written even in the dialogue department (where a lot of times this can fall short!)
I liked how Thomas wasn't conventional either. He reminds me of a gruff man with a sweet heart underneath who really wants to bond with someone. Nikki is smart - she even does background checks on the guy online - and her reasoning for her experiments aren't silly at all. They're logical and make sense with the character and what she wants. It's not written in a silly way at all.
The play is kept light since it's mainly mental, but it's fun! Fans of this stuff will be pleased. show less

I have to start with saying this is a silly book. A spinsterish 34 feels that life is passing her by and takes her walk on the wild side by going to an island where she will be a sex slave for 3 nights, so that she can have some memories in her old age. At the island, she meets her nemisis and falls in love.
This is erotica, as opposed to porn - the relationship is central to the plot and the HEA, while overdone, is believable (in the world of the book) The heroine, Kris Torrence, suddenly show more realizes that the only man she wants to touch her is the annoying but macho Jack McKenna, and it's all fun and games with him but more than a little distasteful when other men try to grab hold of her.
This is pure fantasy, there is no reality here. And within the fantasy, it actually works. You feel for Kris, who acknowledges to herself in the quite funny prologue, that she 'has too many damn cats' and that her good girl behavior has made her life boring. And Jack is obsessed with his 'red headed witch' long before he comes to the Island. Once on the island, fun and games ensue. I wouldn't call this a submissive rel at all, despite the image on the cover. It's much more vanilla than that. But it is sweet, and I was happy to spend time with them. Just a warning, this book takes a lot of suspension of disbelief, but once you go with the flow, it carries you along. B+ and this is a reread/keeper for me show less

Not a very well-known book but a surprisingly good read.
The suspense part is more developed than the romance part which is quite okay. In fact, I have to admit that the serial killer case is very interesting and very well-constructed. Though you suspect the person who is the killer from the beginning, there are some other tracks and candidates making you guessing till the end. For such a short story the suspense part is really good.
I have also generally enjoyed the romance part. The passion show more between Thomas and Nikki is obvious. I'm not sure about some deep feeling since they know each other so short but still I have no doubt that they deeply care for each other. Also, I like that they act like some mature humane beings and talk to each other if something is wrong instead of just running away. At some point Nikki decides to leave Thomas but she stays to tell him about it, they talk and explain things to each other. That's really good, I've had enough books' couples that split up because they decide not to talk or presume instead of asking.
A short but entertaining story. I will definitely give this author a chance again. show less
