Each of the short stories is an account of the horrors the black cat witnesses. The black cat is avoided by most people because of superstition, but The ventriloquist and the unhappy couple keep him as a pet, and name him Blackie (which I thought was kinda cute).

Hideshi Hino is a genius. I loved this book. I'll admit that the reason I picked it up is because I am a cat lover, and I've always wanted a black cat, but I'm so happy I did. It was eerie and interesting.
Admittedly I don't read a lot of horror and don't have an appreciation for it. The Bug Boy was interesting and his adventures were funny and reminded me of Invader Zim. But it wasn't necessarily engaging. The art was certainly original. I'm not sure if I would recommend it, but if you love horror manga, you might enjoy it.
I love Hideshi Hino's stories, they give me chills. I like the shojo theme in this one, though it doesn't feel like a shojo.
This one was gross, but also cute in a weird way and sad.
