A delightful book. This could have been a cheesy, hokey book about bacon with some cruddy recipes, weird pictures and the like. Instead it's a very fun read by an author who not surprisingly loves food. Quirky and zany with lots of interesting information about bacon for the foodie. I'm going to seek out some other books by the author since I'm not likely to get a chance to visit Zingerman's myself any time soon. Glad I picked up the book.
This book made me smile, which is something books show more about food too often forget to do. show less

Zingerman's Guide to Good Eating: How to Choose the Best Bread, Cheeses, Olive Oil, Pasta, Chocolate, and Much More by Ari Weinzweig
This book is quite old, but it taught me how to choose the best ingredients and gave me pointers I couldn't find online. I absolutely recommend it to gourmands. In fact, everyone. Why buy something awful when you can educate yourself and buy the real stuff?
This book is such a great guide! Weinzweig's advice is direct, simple, and down to earth. He demonstrates how the philosophy of service at all levels of an organization can build a happy workplace and a successful business. He speaks from a place of experience; his guide encourages you to set high standards while acknowledging that everyone makes mistakes. I am tempted to run away to Michigan and ask for a job...
Zingerman's Guide to Good Eating: How to Choose the Best Bread, Cheeses, Olive Oil, Pasta, Chocolate, and Much More by Ari Weinzweig
A great overview of ingredients: their history, where they come from, and how to tell if they're any good. One of my very favorite food books.
