The Power to Heal in Faith healers (March 2017)

A charismatic preacher (yes, it's a book originally published in the 70's when Charismatic gifts were commonly discussed) shares his experience in praying for the healing of others. As a new minister he didn't believe he had the ability nor the right to attempt, but as he grew in his understanding and his Faith, he discovered that praying for healing really works---not always instantly, and not always as expected---sometimes only in the unrecognizable form of guiding the subject to the right show more professionals for plain ol' conventional allopathic (Western/conventional/orthodox) medical cures. So, much of the book is the encouragement to release the erroneous belief that disease is a means to salvation. Suffering isn't one of God's requirements. The message is to understand that praying for one's own health or that of others can bring results --sometimes amazing, sometimes subtle, that prayer groups can be especially powerful, and that one of the biggest secrets to the power of prayer, is to be open to receiving and sending Love. show less
Most Catholics did not grow up learning how to pray with others for healing or to expect that their prayers could be powerful and transformative. In this book, Francis MacNutt, an early leader in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and head of Christian Healing Ministries, encourages Catholics to do both. This easy-to-read and informative book includes a step-by-step guide for how to pray with others through the laying on of hands; explains the various types of healings that we can show more expectphysical, emotional, and spiritual; discusses the healing effects of the sacraments; features many stories of people who have been healed through prayer. This book will help Catholics view healing prayer as an integral part of their life in Christ and step out in faith by praying with others and by asking for prayer when they need healing. show less
This is a book written for anyone and breaks down the deliverance ministry without being hokey. The topic alone can send you running but you will be missing out on a thoughtful and well researched but if you don’t read this.
This vague book draws much on the experiences and teaching of, amongst others, Agnus Sanford. If you've ever read her book "The Healing Light", you'll know that this warm, caring woman was grossly pagan and heretical in her sorcerous teaching.

Highly recommend staying away from this book.
