This was a great read! The writing flowed well, and there were SO many emotions for me with this one. I laughed out loud, and had to stop reading to cry for a few minutes. I strongly disliked Haley at the start. I don't think leaving someone in the dead of night without explanation is something that someone should just forgive. It was also one of those "I'll make the decision for someone else" deals. I hate those! Haley started to grow on me as the story went on. I loved Axel. He was a good show more man trying to help his family, and make his own way. Once things change between them, I did feel like Haley was unwilling to bend at all to be with Axel. They get their HEA, but it was hard fought. Now let me just say that I haven't had a book make me bawl my eyes out for quite a while. I usually avoid them :) I had no idea what was coming, and I had to stop reading a couple of times to get a hold of myself. EXCELLENT writing! I can't recommend this one enough! show less
This was okay for me. The writing itself flowed well, but my dislike came from Austin. He is nothing like the characters that this author usually writes, and it was hard to adjust to that (for me anyway). He is arrogant, selfish, and a pretty big jerk until about 90% of the story. I was hoping for some growth, but there is only 1 time before then that he does anything remotely nice. I know that Austin had things in his past that were awful, but that didn't give him the right to treat other show more people that way. I felt like that whole situation was just swept under the rug. Macey was a good character, and I felt like she was too good for Austin. The ending was sweet, and it nice to see a better side to Austin. I'm hoping that the other brothers won't be quite so slow to change.

This was a great overcoming the past and slow burn love which was great as there are soo many instalove books at the moment. I really liked how Travis was trying to shield himself from feeling anything let alone falling for some due to the guilt of his past, while Elaine is struggling to care for her and her son while keeping her nose clean and better herself. I really liked how they both tried to keep it professional while struggling with the past as well as how they feel not knowing that show more their friends are working on a gentle plan to make the realise whats best for them. As this is the first book in the series we are introduced to quiet a few characters but they are great and just make you want to read the next book in the series as well as others by Tessa Layne.

Solid 4.5 star
I just loved how the end of book one showed us the beginning of book 2 without knowing it at the time, Brodie appears to stuff up all the time and is given one final chance to get it together or he has to walk away. Jamey's life had been going down the drain while things were coming together for her best friend Maddie and Brodies brother Blake and now she has to face the life she knew is over. Both Brodie and Jamey are given the chance to get their life together unfortunately show more for Jamey and Brodie it means working together and making it work as much as they lust after/hate each other and facing their individual secrets that are stoping either of them from really living life. There is plenty of sexual tension, cringe worthy and get me a tissue moment to make this such a great read you will be ordering the next book in the series straight away! show less
