I was pulled into the book immediately by Chris's style of writing. She is very descriptive and manages to hook your emotions with her words. Her plot line is easy to follow & her characters are well developed & likeable. The family life is depicted exactly the way any large family would interact with no privacy & lots of love. The chemistry is hot & intense even though they were constantly interrupted so they couldn't act on it. There was drama & twists & turns that were unexpected just show more like real life.

Loved this book! This is the first book in the series that I've read but I will be buying the rest of the series. It can be read as a stand alone since I was not lost in any way. It engaged my emotions & kept me fully involved so that I read the entire book in 1 sitting.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest opinion & all thoughts & feelings expressed here are my own.

ARC Review: Finn (Farraday County) by Chris Keniston

Ms. Keniston paints a beautiful portrait of family, love and faith in a small town with heart and a bit of ethereal mystery on the side. A four legged friend returns to lay the groundwork for a second chance for Finn and Joanna. Joanna is a city girl with a touch of country in her heart. Finn is country through and through. The land, his family and hard work are deeply ingrained in his soul. Can these opposites learn the value of compromise show more before all is loss? The most endearing quality about Finn and Ms. Keniston is she allows the reader to draw their own conclusions. Whether it be a mysterious dog, who's there to lend a helping hand. A proud man scared to open himself up to hurt again. Or lastly a reunited couple seeking a second chance. Her stories send the message of hope in good times and bad. We all need that. Ms. Keniston delivers an abundance of heart along with big personality. show less
If you’ve ever worked as a nanny, or even at a daycare, you know that watching someone else’s children can rapidly burn you out. You deal with all of the problems &, usually, can’t be the solution. This is the life Iris has been experiencing. She’s been a nanny to the spoiled & bored children of a well to do
Couple. The couple are busy & don’t have time for their kids. Iris knew it was time for a break or she’d never want her own someday.

Eric is in shock. His sister & husband are show more gone & he’s the only one left to raise his niece & nephew. Unsure of what to do, he decided to follow through on the vacation his sister had booked before the accident. It was a familiar place to the kids but not as full of memories as home. It would give him time to figure out the near future. When Eric proved that he was lost, Iris stepped up to help.

I enjoyed the character dynamics in this story. The small town characters seem to grow more realistic in every story. They are the same people you’d see in any “small town USA”. The interactions between the cousins is exactly the way it was in our family growing up. You could bicker among each other but the minute someone from outside started in, watch out! They’d defend each other forever. This was a very emotional story from the beginning & the kids grabbed your hearts & didn’t let go. Their grief, fear & bewilderment seeps through the pages to lodge in your throat. I’m not ashamed to say I shed a few tears over them. This is an extremely heart warming, emotional story that everyone should read.

Every time Chris Keniston releases another Farraday book, I end up with a new favorite! Ethan is a helicopter pilot that just survived a "hard landing". While recuperating, his family dropped a bomb on him.

Allison is a doctor that has been out of the country working in the Amazon for the last seven months. When she was finally within Internet range, she receives several cryptic emails from an investigative firm looking for her sister. After talking to the firm, she heads back to the US as show more soon as possible.

I love the Farraday family. Each brother has his own personality & has followed their own path. They each have developed into independent, strong alpha men that look out for their families & others. The characters are all three dimensional, realistic & lovable. The women that are introduced are just as strong & independent but are the perfect match. I think the stories can be read as stand alone stories but I do feel that you miss out on several key elements if you don't read them in order.
