I absolutely adored this little cozy mystery!

It had all the genres I love: mystery, suspense, paranormal, and thriller.

In this story, it’s Mercy’s first day at a witch academy that she was forced to go to after an incident with her powers got her in trouble. It’s here she meets a group of witches, each of them drastically different from one another. These unlikely friends go on the trail of a murdered girl, desperate to find out what happened to her. When they think they have the show more answers, one of their own is kidnapped.

This book kept me on my toes, and I absolutely loved how different each of the main characters were. It made the book feel that much more real. I think Jax was my favorite character just because she was so bubbly and warm compared to the others. I’m happy to see this book is part of a series because I could use more stories with these characters.

The narration was absolutely fantastic as well. Each character had a distinct voice. She even did a New Jersey accent for Alba which was awesome.

I was attracted to read this story as I have loved snow globes since the very 1st time I received one as a present when I was a child. The title also reminded me of the game show "Deal or No Deal" when hosted by Howie Mandel. As my attention was focused on the story title, series name, and pretty cover, I missed noticing the small print on the cover, "Book #1 (A Prequel Novella)." Not realizing it was a novella, I was shocked when totally engrossed in the story, I turned a page at a show more cliff-hanging moment, and my eyes seemed to be blinking in error as I read and re-read,

WoW! It's captivating, and enchanting, and I look forward to continuing my fascination to read this series! I've enjoyed many prequels over the years but this one is of special note as a true showstopper in coming to a crashing halt and simultaneously an extraordinary and engrossing introduction to the series. This was far better than I ever expected it would be. I expected it would be a teen book and really didn't think it would have the depth I wanted. I tried it and boy was I surprised! This was a true gem! A fun book with the paranormal side, great characters, wonderful plot, silliness, a mystery, side things to keep your mind going, a school of witches and warlocks learning their craft, evil lurking show more about, and a touch of romance. I truly enjoyed this book and will look for other books in this series.
This was an audible book and the narrator was perfect for this book! I loved her silliness when needed and the multiple voices she did so well!!! Great job! show less

I am an adult and read this just to explore. It was Ok. Manageable .
However i feel for a young adult say 10-14 age this may be a rather fun read. Definitely something your 12 yr old can read as i didn't find anything objectionable in it.
My 12 year old read it and cant get enough of the series. It is a typical girls series like the age old Enid Blyton concept of a bunch of kids thrown together and solving mysteries. It has mystery,drama, magic and it is engaging enough to keep the kids going show more back for the next book and the next. The fact that the entire 7 books series is available on kindle unlimited also helps show less
