Oliver Hamilton was a work in progress, but boy did he clean up nice. The frustratingly arrogant pseudo playboy became a family man in the making. Claim My Baby caught my attention the minute I laid eyes on the cover. I'm a sucker for a man not afraid to be sensitive and there is a purity to a bond between a father holding his offspring. It lets you see a piece of his heart. Sage and Oliver were the best kind of romance. Saucy, surprising and sensitive. Their love kind of sneaks up on you show more and lays claim to your soul. Sensitive can be sexy and Taryn Quinn delivered both. show less
Alright judgy mc-judgy...I know, it's not the sort of book I generally read/review, but hear me out. I clicked on this freebie download because I couldn't believe the title...I mean, A Christmas Carol is one of my FAVORITE books so how could one possibly turn it into "something else"? Then there's the cover...*ahem*...let's just say it was a tiny little thumbnail pic on my phone, but um, yeah, was rather "surprising" when viewed full size. Moving forward...it wasn't either of these things show more that really made me want to read it though, it was partially the description, but also the reviews. That's right, the reviews. I usually avoid reading multiple reviews of a book I'm considering, so again, it wasn't on MY list at first glance, but although people kept mentioning how "hot" it was, they also made note that the STORY behind the jingle-jangling was not to be missed. Well, now that I've read it, I have to say I strongly....AGREE!

I'm not going to sugar coat it, it's NOT for anyone less than a mature ADULT audience because yeah, there's a lot of "that", but Kandy and Linc are definitely characters I won't be forgetting anytime soon, and not simply for their ability to get down in a hurry. Kandy is an independent woman who runs her own business and really wants to succeed, but for herself and her staff. She puts her whole heart and soul into the business and when something goes off course, she takes a personal interest in correcting the situation. In this case, a missing Santa, his helper, and nary a jolly-old-saint-anything in sight...at least without the right motivation. Lincoln (aka Linc) is a successful businessman who puts up with the monkey suit when necessary, but prefers jeans and a button down. He's got the look, he's made the money, and though he truly gets grinchy this time of year, deep down he really cares....just don't tell him that or you may get the wrong end of the peppermint stick. He's got a past that's weighing him down, and no inclination to crack the shell he's created for himself...too bad he's set his own trap that's about to shake more than the balls on the tree, but oh what a beautiful sight they'll make if they can get through this holiday!

All in all, I was totally surprised by how much I enjoyed the STORY...but um yeah, just not one for sharing around the Christmas tree with the family. *wink wink*

I loved this book! The enemies to lovers thing is always great to read. Once they finally realize that all the fighting has just been foreplay, the fun begins :) The writing flowed well, and I thought that the characters were developed nicely. I haven't read the first book, but that didn't take anything away from this one. Oliver and Sage were good together, and their chemistry was great. They were complete opposites in most everything, but I thought they complimented each other well. I did show more get frustrated at Sage a few times. She knew that Oliver wasn't trying to be mean with the things he said and did, he was just trying to give her what she wanted, but she still pushed him away. She let her insecurities get the better of her a lot. Oliver went out of his comfort zone constantly to give Sage what she wanted. Everything ends well, and the HEA was a good one. I'm hoping Dare and Kelsey's book is next.

I received a copy of Rockstar Daddy in exchange for an unbiased review.

So now there's another fictional band I want to follow like a love-starved groupie, and I have Taryn & Cari to thank for it. I was never a "I've got a crush on the rock god" sort of girl, but I'm now a convert.

These two can weave their stories together inextricably like a weaver with a sweater that you just can't wait to put on and luxuriate in. I jump at the chance to read and review their stuff because it's Just. That. show more Good. While Rockstar Daddy isn't as deep as their Oblivion, Hammered, or "The Boss" series' - I enjoyed it thoroughly.

The leads:
Kellan, small-town boy who finds old friend Lila Crandall (see [book:Shattered|29234520]), makes good, goes from band rep to band front-man, then hides out in hometown over New Years' Eve.

Margaret (Maggie/Magpie) Kelly, small-town girl who finds herself in said guy's ditch on New Years' Eve - but knows nothing about him... especially not the rock band front-man thing.

Throw in an insane amount of attraction, a really inadequate ex-boyfriend, a super cold glove-box, and some really great bad decisions - and you've got yourself a few hours of "Take Me Away Calgon" time.

While this isn't a five-star book for me, it's a great read. Somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars for a light and fluffy happytiemz read.
