Maybe I'm just a bit saturated due to all of the strength training blogs/studies I read these days, but I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was hoping I would be. I felt like the months-out level of periodization was just excessive (though maybe for bodybuildings/powerlifters who need to "peak" for an event, it might make sense). I'm also not sure I agree with the super-high rep protocol for burning fat -- I think you'd lose some muscle with that approach. Also, it barely touched on show more the issue of steroid use -- yet was full of pictures of clearly juiced IFBB pros. I understand that this issue is generally swept under the table in the lifting world, yet I think it clearly needs to be addressed one way or another if you're going to showcase lifters who are benefiting from their use. The diet, at least, was interesting, and did deviate sharply from the typical chicken-breast-and-broccoli bodybuilding prescription. show less
