Archaeologist Lance Vidor is searching an ancient Arabian tomb when he finds a strange, glowing bloodstone amulet. After local workers attack, he takes refuge in the tomb and is mysteriously transported 30,000 years into the past.

Vidor finds himself in the ancient, technologically advanced continent of Mu, along with other people snatched from various time periods, i.e., the Exiles of Time.

The inhabitants of Mu are facing an impending apocalypse: a runaway comet is scheduled to strike the show more Earth, bringing about the Day of Ragnarok - the Twilight of the Gods.

In desperation, the host brought these individuals back, hoping that modern knowledge could help save their civilization. However, some of the exiles are unscrupulous individuals who, instead of helping, plot to use their knowledge of the future to become rulers of the world and reshape history for their own gain.

Lance Vidor and Vale Marlow, having fallen in love, must combat the evil plotters and try to stop the impending disaster.

As much as I admire Nelson Bond’s prose and enjoyed reading this collection, none of the stories really captured my imagination. This collection is subtitled ‘13 Flights of Fantasy’, and although the writing is streamlined, aerodynamic and looks nice taxiing up and down the runway, unfortunately for the most part they struggle to get airborne.

Complete review at: The Great Gnome Press Science Fiction Odyssey, and a close-up examination of the book itself.
En stor by, ca 1930
