Honestly, this must be one of the best WDs ever. Reading it I was reminded of how 13 year old me felt reading about Bad Doc Orks and Squig-brained Orks! Fantastic imaginations. Plus some Marienburg stuff, incredible modelling workshops on a Ruined Temple, ork-genestealers, Flash Gitz, an a chaos warband. Oh yeah and Wayne England's dwarf army, utterly fantastic.
For me this is the absolute pinnacle of Games Workshop. Everyone's favourite period of GW is the period when they first got into it and it all seemed to wonderfully vibrant and grim and exciting all at once, and this is it for me! Full of evocative art, characterful descriptions, excerpts from books, new miniatures, modelling instructions, amazing painted models, stories and games, this is a fine read. Highlights include lots of stuff about Orks, including chunks of the Waaargh! Orks book, show more building a Vindicator tank, and some WFRP stuff about Marienburg. Ace! show less
Now this is as good as it gets! Pure joy for the imagination! A Wayne England marine on the front cover, with sensible proportions, an Ork army on the back, feasts for the eyes. Inside, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay stats for Konrad characters and a guide to a river boat and adventures thereon. Traitor terminators for Space Hulk, magic items for Blood Bowl, Ork Banners, an extract from The Lost and the Damned, so much wonderful Eavy Metal art, infantry tactics for WH40k, and even some Advanced show more Heroquest too! show less
Parts 3 and 4 of the Doomstones Campaign might be a bit of a slog for the players. The first part, Death Rock' is a fairly standard adventure, a treasure hunt that will bore fighting players and doesn't really make a lot of sense, going on against a siege that has some great moments but won't challenge. This underwhelming adventure leads into a dull dungeon full of repetitive traps livened up by two warring clans of dwarves that you could help or hinder. Many of the traps are too hard to show more find and too deadly, whilst many are too easy to find or a bit pointless. There aren't really any fun fights either. So a damp squib at best! show less
