Ed Broadbent (1936–2024)

Largely empty of meaning since Canada is not a democracy. Most significant choice has been seeded to the nitwits in the nation's capitals. The NDP led the charge to this dreadful state of affairs. I noticed recently that, when I drive our new car it keeps signalling me to 'take a break' every few minutes, and this after only a few minutes of driving. The dealership says that this 'feature' is government ordained. Yes, they know what's good for us.

In the 1940's and 50's Tommy Douglas preached that the CCF was different from the other political parties in Canada, and it remained an article of faith for the believers. In 1970, Broadbent, ambitious but weak academic and a future leader of the NDP, tried to demonstrate that Trudeau, then Prime Minister was an ideological conservative. Trudeau was a process-oriented pluralist and rationalist. It's a polemic, and kind of shabby.
