An interesting short book of inter-war planes, mainly civilian. Not exhaustive by any means; covers the standards, and a few lesser-known planes. Part of a series.
World Aircraft provides a comprehensive and well-documented history of aviation. Following on from Volumes 3 and 4 of this series, Combat Aircraft 1945-1980 continues the story of the development of the world's combat aircraft. This volume includes a selection of 148 aircraft from fifteen countries, with 171 colour illustrations plus supplementary black-and-white line drawings. A wide variety of aircraft are covered, from the great aeronuatical powers of the U.S.A. Great Britain and the show more Soviet Union to the develompent of the French and Italian aeronautical industries. Summaries are also given of the aircraft and industries of those countries considered to be less involved with aviation history, such as Sweden, Japan, Australia and Poland.Following the same format of the previous volumes each aircraft is accompanied by data tables and detailed, informative text. Additional chapters look at Engines, and the Insignia of the World's Air Forces in the 1960s. For quick and easy reference there is also a comprehensive illustrated list of the world's major combat aircraft from 1945. show less
