I liked this book for three main reasons. First, I liked how the illustrations were extremely life-like and colorful. I loved how the girls in the illustrations, the illustrator showed them looking like normal people, then gave them wings and a wand to let the reader know that they are imagining themselves as fairies. Second, I liked how the author wrote certain words in bold print, to draw the reader’s attention to those words. For example, the words that the author made bold to draw the show more authors attention too were “Giggled, dancing, frosting,! ?”, and many other words. Third, I liked how the story was based off a little girl’s imagination. For example, the little girl got a magic wand for her birthday and she wished for a variety of different things for her birthday. The big idea of this story was that you can make a million fantasy wishes, but no wish is better than friendship in the end. show less
This book is good for five to eight year old's the theme is great for younger kids and learning to push through failures. This book is very fun, it has a creative message about trying your best. Camilla is a fairy that tries to make cupcakes and she keeps making things other than frosting and messing up, but she keeps trying and eventually gets it. In a classroom this would be great for teaching how to keep trying and not give up.
As Katie and her fairy sisters prepare for their Christmas show, all the candy canes lose their red stripe and they think they can't do show without them.....however, the show must go on and they discover they can do well, all by themselves. "True sparkle comes from within".
The artwork is very bright and flashy using lots of pinks and foil. It may be difficult for boys to enjoy the story since it's so PINK. The story is about Lola who never gives up and keeps trying to get her fellow fairies to have an amazing show that will outdo the new form of entertainment comes to town. The rhyming scheme is cute and it's an enjoyable read overall.
