I didn't like the romance. I realize it is Harlequin, but I would rather of read something about Janice dealing with her husbands death and figuring out who she is without the romance. Janice went from a controlling father to a controlling husband. Now she is jumping into marriage again. She is only starting to figure out what she really wants. It bothered me that no one is pushing her to slow down, every is so happy about her new love. No one tells her she needs to spend some time on her show more own.

We get a very little bit about the mystery. Alyssa is having dream about when her mother disappeared. But Janice and her cousin Alyssa interact very little in this book.

A funny thing happened when I was going to read this book. I was rifling through the stack of crap on my coffee table for something suitable as use for a bookmark. What I hit upon was a little card advertising the upcoming MS walk that must have been delivered with a pizza or something. About halfway through the second chapter, it is revealed that the female main character in this book has MS! What a coincidence! I took it as a sign and donated to the cause.
Anyhow, about the book itself. show more Pam comes to Tyler to coach the High School football team. Some townspeople, including Basketball coach Patrick Kelsey are somewhat dubious about a female's ability to coach football properly. Of course, she wins over both Patrick and the town. She is also concerned about how they will feel about her when she reveals her struggle with MS.
This cute little book would be perfect for a Lifetime or Hallmark movie of the week. It's got great characters with real chemistry, the additional feel-good plot of a woman coaching a bunch of rabble-rousers to victory, and a great town full of interesting characters. The one complaint I would have is that the mystery that is supposed to thread through this series (that of the dead body discovered at the Lodge) is dropped into this book rather heavy-handedly. People mention interesting tidbits about the investigation in completely inappropriate settings. However, I can't really think of a better way to get that info in here, since neither main character really has anything to do with either the Lodge or the investigation. I would leave those parts out of the movie version.

When Janice's husband dies she realizes she's always depended on him to make all the decisions and pretty much take care of everything. She has no idea where they are financially or what's going on in his insurance business. She also had no idea he was seeing another woman. She reconnects with a college boyfriend who was also friends with her deceased husband and comes to find that she is ready to start a new life.
This was a very sweet little story about two people finding that it's never show more too late to start over and love again. The characters were genuine and had believable chemistry with each other. I was disappointed that no progress was made in the mystery of the Body at the Lake, and also that there were very few cameos from people featured in the previous books. This is much more of a stand-alone novel than any of the others in the series. show less

I was under the impression that the 12 books in the Welcome to Tyler series would all be related. This book 2 didn't seem to have any connection to Book 1 except that a few former characters were briefly mentioned but didn't really fit into the story. However, as a stand alone book it was very good. The story of a female football coach dealing with MS was interesting and as I have an aunt who has had MS for over 40 years and a college roommate with MS, I liked that the story shows you can show more live a full life while dealing with this illness. I really liked both Patrick and Pam and how they worked out their relationship. Good lesson too that the football team learned you have work to achieve your goals. show less
