Genre: This story is a fantasy. This story is about a mouse who runs away from his mother because he is very cranky. This does not happen in the real world because mice do not have feelings or talk like human beings. However this story does have a element of truth because all the time in the world people run away from homes. This story is a good example of a fantasy because while the non-reality part of the story is the mice talking, there is a realness to it in that it is about Tip (the show more mouse) running away.

Age: Primary/Intermediate

Media: Pencil/Pastel

Use: 1. Use as a introduction to a unit on feelings. 2. Have students write in their journals about a time they were sad or felt cranky.
