This book is more than an album as each photo has some commentary. The photographs come from 1860 through 1910 and are of women, children and men alone or in groups. The commentary follows the changes in fashion and revolution in women's clothing against the restrictive garments of the 1870's which resulted in the looser, lighter fashions of the Edwardian era.
Modern reprint of 1905 book by Butterick Pattern Co (the first pattern maker) with an introduction. Has many photos and illustrations showing how stitches are done by hand. Excellent resource for re-enactors, theater costumers, and those who are studying the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
This book not only has fashion plates, but also has patterns. This was actually used in Victorian magazines and women had a set of special rulers that would allow them to enlarge the pattern to their size.
This book has both women's and girl's patterns with the instructions to enlarge the pattern to your own size.
