Okay, so I know this is meant to be a play for kids, but it's just not very well done. The story is just lacking in the most basic sense. With all the things a kid could be afraid of running into in the dark, this kid has a thing about possums? Then, at the end, after all the grief he puts the rest of his family through, it just becomes a joke to him? Honestly, I kind of hate this kid.

Along with the bad characters and weak story, the illustrations are... off. The cover image is fine, but the show more illustrations inside are just odd looking. The characters' heads are too big for their bodies. If I ever did find myself putting on this play, I would insist on making the actors wear large foam-rubber heads to match the way they look here. It would be so off-putting for the audience, they might not notice the awfulness of the play itself.

Of course, knowing my luck, the play and illustrations were both done by children and I'm just being a complete ass, but I've always promised myself that I'd write honest reviews, so here we go.

This is one I grabbed at a library sale for my Little Free Library, so hopefully someone who enjoys it will find it. show less
