The Bold and Magnificent Dream: America's Founding Years, 1492-1815 by Bruce Catton

I highly recommend this book. It is written by Bruce Catton & his son William Catton. It contains no footnotes and, bcause of the manner in which the text is written, none are needed. The authors have written an overview history of the founding of America. Since it is an overview history
and not intended for the "classroom", the missing footnotes do not create a problem. And I suspect no other historians could have written such an appealing story as this. The text contains not a wasted word show more and is a joy to read. I am not sure any other historian could have written such a detailed yet expansive and enjoyable treatise. show less
