Set after the events of the first "Ultimate Avengers", the sequel (unlike the first film) is not based on the Mark Millar comic, but an original(ish) story introducing the Black Panther and Wakanda to this incarnation of the Marvel world. The story, such as it is, is quite basic, but the execution is reasonably decent (a lot of effort is put, for instance, into having the various plotlines spring naturally from the events of the previous film), the animation pretty good for a direct to DVD show more release, and all in all it's an action romp that's much less bland than I'd have expected it to be. Forgettable, especially in light of the many live action Marvel films ranging decent to amazing that have followed in the years since its release. But for the younger demographic and at a time where multiple heroes together in a film still was a rare event indeed, one could (and I have) done a lot worse. show less

Looking back, the backstory's pretty messed up (two shitty people adopt an orphan kid they see as disposable) but at least the kid comes out OK, so yay!
Two mice rescue an orphan girl.

Okay. Adorable mice, great art, dumb story.
