James Croft

Brand New Readers are a great series for the very earliest readers. Each book contains several stories, usually four, with an introduction to each story that can be read by the parent and then very simple, yet fun text. In this case we follow several of Mouse's adventures. There's lots of repetition without sacrificing interest and the words are always in the same place at the bottom of the page allowing early readers to train their eyes to look for text. The illustrations by James Croft are show more done in acrylics and pastels with lots of bright colors and simple lines. Sadly, our library copies have been wearing out and we've been having trouble finding replacement copies. I believe at one point in time these were also sold in stores as paperback sets with each story an individual book. show less
