An excellent book, the maps are very good, though not quite up to the quality of David chandler's "Napoleon". An excellent selection of maps however, and the text is clear and workmanlike. There's not much of controversy in this book, but the facts are here. If you can't get the Chandler "Napoleon", use this book as the spine of your collection.
Superb for the student who wants to follow the strategies and tactics of the major campaigns and battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Read Chandler's Campaigns of Napoleon with this book open as well for a true treat.
Excellent detail and research. A splendid reference for anyone studying this period.
2 Vols. :The West Point Atlas of American Wars : Vol I 1689 -1900 & Vol II: 1900 -1953 by Vincent J. Esposito
Excellent resource for aficionados of American military history who like to follow battles with easy accessibility to maps. In these oversized books, detailed, military style maps appear on every right hand side of the pages of the book with the ongoing battle descriptions on the left. The book was compiled by the Department of Military Art and Engineering, The United States Military Academy with its Chief Editor being the Head of the Department of Military Art and Engineering at the Academy.
