The Ultimate Book of Puzzles, Mathematical Diversions, and Brainteasers: A Definitive Collection of the Best Puzzles Eve by Erwin Brecher
Erwin Brecher's book is a fascinating collection of old and new brain teasers convering the whole spectrum of this challenging field but avoiding repetitions and trick questions so often found in puzzle literature.
A particularly attractive feature is the author's approach to presenting solutions. Not only does he describe a novel technique to solve a specific type of geometrical problem, which he calls the Zero Option, but he also guides the reader through the thought process leading to the show more solution. This is a welcome change to many puzzle books which simply state the answer, leaving the reader baffled as to how the solution was arrived at and more than a little frustrated at being unable to connect. The chapter on the Fourth Dimension is a thought-provoking effort at proving, in easy language, that this mysterious concept represents something real in our universe.
The Ultimate Book of Puzzles is a valuable addition to any puzzle library. show less
