Short biography
Nora Gaydos is an elementary school teacher in Connecticut with over ten years of experience teaching kindergarten, first grade, third grade, and fourth grade. She has a comprehensive understanding of how beginning readers develop from pre-readers to independent readers. As a teacher, she was inspired to create the Now I'm Reading program after seeing firsthand how children learn to read. Her goal was to build a series that was fun, motivating, and "just right" for beginning readers.

This is an absolutely super and imaginative book. I rank it at three stars rather than 4 or 5 only because the window of opportunity for using and enjoying it is quite narrow. It is rated by the publisher as ages 4+, which is fair because the gimmick of sliding two panels together to reveal a compound word (star + fish >> starfish) can scarcely be operated by anyone younger; but once the child actually begins to read simple words, the interest will quickly wane. In its favour, it is a very show more sturdy book and will last through several children or even several families. And kids of 6 or 7 who really need the word practice but might think they're "too old" for a board book can probably be induced to read it to a younger sibling. show less
This is a great book that helps children and parents take on the challenges and responsibilities of getting older.
This book can be read to young children 4 and up. This book is about a young boy who attends school and has realization that all families are different from his and that's ok. The book is about accepting different people and how we are all unique and special.

A little boy realizes that he doesn't want to carry "heavy and smelly" diaper. He learns how to use the potty and to wear underwear like his dad, hid grandpa, and his friend. This book also shares with parents how and when their children are ready for using the potty and wearing underwear. Children will grow up while they know how to take care themselves.
