Stuart is a superb photographer of erotic poses involving young women whose physical attributes are familiar rather than exotic, and the style and execution of his work demonstrates his ability to obtain subtle emotions from his voyeurs. Although his subjects are scantily clad, and posed with the intent to arouse, it would be unfair to label his work as pornographic, even if the arousal he obtains relates to the wilder side of erotic activity. Roy Stuart is een fotograaf die de grens opzoekt tussen pornografie en kunst. Zijn foto's zijn bedoeld om de lust te stimuleren, maar zijn tevens mooi van compositie en belichting. Toch vind ik de meeste van zijn foto's banaal op een paar prettig aandoende uitzonderingen na. Voor deze paar foto's krijgt het boek van mij drie sterren. Voor een veel betere fotograaf in hetzelfde genre kijk naar de foto's van Robert Mapplethorpe.
